Happy New Year dear readers, I hope you’re having a start to the year that’s as fabulous as this couture season. In January, Couture filled the Parisian air with it’s high-end glam & elegance. This season, most of the couture houses centered their collections around a Baroque theme that was interpreted in several forms. The pieces this season embodied the grandeur of elegance at its finest. They featured ruffles and bows. There was floral delicacy and pastel softness, nestled in the art and architecture of the 18th century.
Here are my favorite shows of the season.
Schiaparelli:
Oh! what will I do without Schiaparelli ???. This season, the Creative Director – Daniel Roseberry, sought to reach greater heights. He aimed to execute his vision. He developed this vision by indulging in time travel. The silhouettes in this collection titled “ICARUS”, give a nod to the Haute couture of the past. Great couturiers of the past, such as Paul Poiret, Alaia, and Saint Laurent, inspired these masterpieces. The silhouettes were re-proportioned to reflect the second golden age of Haute couture i.e the 1950s.
Some of my favorite looks from the collection:

Viktor & Rolf:
The collection is a full expression of a single outfit in several variations. The outfit includes a Beige trench, a white shirt, and a blue pair of pants. These pieces were reinterpreted in every single look using one fabric—silk gazar from Ruffo coli. Talk about genius thinking. The collection is an ode to Couture’s tradition and history. Each look reflects the brand’s DNA of ruffles and bows. This is done in a minimalist but baroque approach.

DIOR:
Dior truly took my breath away this season with it’s ethereal collection. It almost felt like I transcended to another realm while watching the show. The precision, delicacy, and meticulousness that must have gone into creating these pieces leave me astonished. The pieces embody a lot of emotions. They reckon with a wonderland fantasy filled with petals, flowers, and birds around their cages.

What a breath of fresh air this season was, until next time. ;).
